In May, educate yourself on the impacts of Lawns and Monoculture Agriculture on Pollinators through No Mow May!

Or focus on the impacts of Meat Agriculture and Dairy Agriculture and try out some recipes inspired by a Climatarian Diet through Meat-Free May.

Shop Local

If you are going to buy meat this month, try to purchase it from a local farm!

Use the USDA Local Food Directories to locate a farm near you. The USDA offers multiple directories allowing you to search for Farmers Markets, Food Hubs or CSA boxes. You can filter your searches by distance and even download all of the results.

You can also search for On-Farm Markets or Agritourism opportunities available near you through the USDA portals. Farm tours, workshops, or “pick your own produce” has become an integral part of the survival of the modern small farm, plus it’s just a fun thing to do!

Consider scheduling a day trip for you to visit a farm and evaluate it yourself!

Shop Bulk

Many farms will sell produce to you in bulk at a reduced rate, but if a farm isn’t an option, check out the Litterless - Composting & Bulk Refill Directory to see what other bulk options are available near you!
